Kelly Darnley, President and CEO

As we close another eventful year at the Caledon Chamber of Commerce, it is a time to reflect on all that has been accomplished.

As the Voice of Business, our chamber has been active on a number of issues that were raised in our traditional grassroots, member driven way. The role of advocacy is the foundation of our purpose and is critical to the success of the businesses in our community. During 2007 the Chamber was deeply invested in advocacy as our core business.

The lion’s share of policy time was spent on the Town’s growth strategy. This issue is ongoing and we will continue to monitor the Town’s commitment to complete all studies necessary to finalize the South Albion Study.

The Chamber continues to offer assistance and support to members’ dealing with various levels of government. We continued to meet regularly with our elected officials to strengthen our message and to communicate our desire to work closely and cooperatively with all levels of government.

Our members have benefited from a wide variety of education, training and networking programs that enhance their skills as entrepreneurs and provide excellent business development opportunities. Our new Member to Member Discount Program is a tool that we have added to our website to provide members with a free promotional venue for their
products and services.

With a full range of bottom line savings including group insurance, petroleum discounts and merchant rate discounts for Visa, MasterCard and Interac, the return on member investment has never been better!

We thank our more than 400 members for their dedication to our chamber. We look forward to qualifying for Accreditation with the Canadian Chamber this fiscal year. A special thank you to the Chamber staff and to the many volunteers who planned and delivered the many events in 2007. We will continue this momentum in 2008 with our Business Excellence Awards, the Caledon Home Show, the Women Connecting series and our Business Week workshops. Look for improved marketing programs which strengthen members profile
within and surrounding Caledon.

Our sincere congratulations to the Caledon business community on another tremendous year of growth and development.

We are proud to be part of such a dynamic region. As we look ahead to 2008, we invite you to join us as we work to strengthen business and community through advocacy, leadership, networking, participation and member services.
